SF version of Urashima Taro(浦島太郎外伝)

浦島太郎の話は有名です。　竜宮城から帰ってきたとき、彼は若い青年のままだったのに、故郷ではすっかり年月が経ち、変化してしまっていました。　もしかして彼は光速で宇宙旅行したのでは。。。。？

Narrator	On the beach, there are some children. They are throwing stones at a tortoise. It is silver. It looks like a machine. The children are bullying the small tortoise. The tortoise is silver and looks like a machine.		浜辺に何人かの子供たちがいました。 彼らや亀に石を投げていました。 それはシルバーで、機械のように見えました。その子供たちはその小さな亀をいじめていました。 その亀、シルバーでまるで機械みたいでした
Child A	Fly, stupid tortoise, fly.		飛んでみろよ、うすのろ亀、飛べよ。
Child B	Fly or I will throw more stones at you.		飛ばないと、もっと石を投げるぜ。
Child C	I will kick you if you don't.		けっとばずぞ、そうしないと。
Child D	Do not pretend you are dead!		死んだふりなんかするなよ。
Child A	I will hit you hard.		おまえをきつく叩くぜ。
Child B	I will burn you if you don't move.		おまえなんか焼いてやる、動かないなら。
Narrator	Urashima Taro passes by and sees the children bullying the tortoise.		浦島太郎が通りかけ、子供たちがその亀をいじめているのを見ました。
Taro	You bad boys! You must not bully a small animal like him!		君達、悪い子だな！　彼のような小さな動物をいじめてはいけないよ。
Narrator	The children run away cursing.		子供たちはののしりながら逃げていきます。
Child ABCD	Shoot!		ちぇっ！
Taro	The bad children are gone. You're safe.		悪い子供たち行っちゃったよ。　もう大丈夫だよ。
Narrator	Taro tries to rub the silver tortoise. But the tortoise suddenly flies up in the sky and Then dives into the sea.		太郎はシルバー色をした亀を撫でようとしました。 ところが亀は突然空に飛び立って、 そして海にもぐっていきました。
Taro	A very strange tortoise. It must be a rare kind.		とても変な亀だ。 それは珍しい種類に違いない。
Narrator	Taro goes home and forgets about the tortoise. One day, he is out on the sea fishing. Then suddenly, he sees a big silver tortoise.		太郎は家に帰って、その亀のことは忘れました。 ある日、魚を釣りに海にいたところ、 すると突然、大きな一匹のシルバー色をした亀を見たのです。
Silver Tortoise	Urashima Taro, thank you for saving our friend.		浦島太郎、私達の友達を救ってくれてありがとう。
Taro	Your friend? Oh, you mean the small tortoise I saved from the bad children.		君達の友達って？　 ああ、あの小さな亀のことか。。。 悪い子供達から救ってあげただけさ。
Silver tortoise	Yes, To thank you for your help and kindness, we will take you to our planet.		そうです。　 あなたが助けてくれ、親切にしてくれたことへの感謝として、 我々の惑星にあなたを連れて行ってあげましょう。
Narrator	Before Taro knows it, he is inside the big tortoise and they are flying. But he thinks the tortoise is diving into the sea. He sees some strange things.		いつのまにか、太郎は大きな亀の中にいました。 そして　2人は飛んでいたのです。 しかし、太郎は亀は海にもぐっていたと思っています。 いくつかの奇妙なものが見えます。
Taro	Oh, look at that! A strange starfish! Oh, this is a strange fish with wings.		おーあれを見て！　奇妙なヒトデだなー えーこれは羽をもった奇妙な魚だぞ！
Narrator	The tortoise stops. Taro climbs out of the tortoise. There are many beautiful buildings and plants. There are people dressed in strange costumes.		亀は止まります。 太郎は亀から降りました。 たくさんの美しい建物や植物があります。 奇妙なコスチュームを着た人たちがいます。
Taro	I have never seen things like this before.		こんなもの今までに見たことない！
Narrator	A beautiful princess appears.		すると美しいお姫様が現れます。
Princess	I am Princess Oto. Welcome to our planet, Ryugu. Please enjoy yourself.		私は　乙姫です。 私達の惑星“竜宮”にようこそ！ 楽しんでいってください。
Narrator	Taro is served delicious food. And he sees an exciting show. He is pleased.		太郎はおいしい食べ物がでてきます。 そして　楽しいショーを見ます。 彼はとても喜んでいます。
Taro	This is like paradise. The food is delicious and the shows are great. People in Ryugu can use many machines.		ここはまるでパラダイスだ。 食べ物もおいしくて、ショーもすばらしい！ 竜宮の人たちはたくさんの機械を使うことができる。
Taro	They know a lot about science, too. I can learn many things. I feel smarter now.		科学についても良く知っている。 多くのことをぼくは学ぶことができる。 なんだか前より賢くなったみたいだ。
Narrator	Taro is a fast learner and masters many sciences. But there is one thing he doesn't like.		太郎は覚えがよく、多くの科学をマスターします。 しかしひとつだけ嫌なことがありました
Narrator	He has to go to a doctor's office to get a medical check-up		かれは医者にいかなければなりませんでした、健康診断を受けに。
Taro	I don't feel sick. Why do I have to take a medical check-up so often?		僕は気分なんて悪くない。　 どうして健康診断をそんなにたびたび受けなければならないんですか？
Doctor	It is necessary for us to examine you. We need to understand the body of 　earth people.		君を診断することは必要なんだ。 我々は地球人の体を理解する必要がある。
Narrator	After a while, Taro becomes bored with Ryugu and starts to miss his village and friends.		しばらくして、太郎は竜宮に飽きてきます。 そして彼の村や友達が恋しくなります。
Taro	I like Ryugu, but I miss my village. I want to go home.		竜宮は好きだけど、でも　僕の村が恋しくなりました。 家に帰りたいです。
Princess	I want you to stay here forever. But if you miss your village so much, you can go home.		あなたにはここにいつまでもいてほしいわ。 でも　そんなにあなたの村が恋しいなら、家に帰してあげましょう。
Narrator	Princess Oto hands him a box.		乙姫は彼に１つの箱を渡します。
Princess	Here, take this box with you. If you ever feel sad, please open it. Then, you will understand everything you have seen here. Come, the Silver Tortoise is waiting for you. Urashima Taro, please hop in.		さあ、この箱をもっておゆきなさい。 悲しくなったら、どうかそれを開けてください。 そうすれば、あなたはここで見たすべてのことが分かるでしょう。 いらっしゃい。　銀の亀があなたを待っています。 浦島太郎さん、中に飛び乗って！
Narrator	Taro goes into the tortoise and the tortoise starts to fly. It flies very fast. He soon arrives at his village. He climbs out the tortoise.		太郎はかめの中に入ります。　そして亀は飛び始めます。 それはとても速く飛びます。　 太郎はすぐに彼の村に着きます。 彼は亀からのぼり降ります。
Taro	Thank you for the ride.		乗せてくれてありがとう。
Silver Tortoise	You're welcome.		どういたしまして。
Silver Tortoise	Take care, Taro!		太郎さん　元気でね！
Taro	Oh, I am home at last. How I missed my village and friends!		あーやっと家に帰ってきた。 どんなに僕の村や友達が恋しかったことか！
Narrator	But the village looks strange. Taro does not see his friends. He cannot find his house. He asks a passerby.		しかし　村は奇妙に見えます。　 太郎は友達の姿は見えません。 彼の家を探すこともできません。 そこを通った通行人に聞きます。
Taro	Do you know where Urashima Taro's house is?		浦島太郎の家がどこにあるか知っていますか？
Passerby	I heard Urashima Taro was taken by an alien spaceship many years ago. He never returned.		たしか何年も前に　エイリアンの宇宙船に連れて行かれたと聞いているけど そして2度と戻って来なかったと。
Taro	What? I was taken by an alien ship many years ago? But I thought I was away from　my village only for a few weeks.		えっ？なんだって？ 僕が宇宙船に何年も前に連れ去られたって。。 でも　僕はたった2，3週間　村を離れていたと思っていたのに。。。
Narrator	Taro is sad because he cannot find his house or his friends. He decides to open the box Princess Oto gave him. When he opens it, There is a cloud of smoke. He changes into an old man.		太郎は悲しくなります。　 というのも彼の家も友達も見つけることができないから。。。 彼は乙姫様がくれた箱を開けようと決心します。 それをあけると、煙の雲が立ち込めます。 彼は　老人に変わります。
Taro	What’s going on? I am now an old man!		なにが起こっているんだ？ ぼくは今や老人だ！
Narrator	But he understands everything now.		しかし　太郎はすべてことを今理解します。
Taro	Oh, I can understand everything now. Many years have passed while I traveled at the speed of light. People on the Planet Ryugu were nice to me because I was an important specimen. I learned many things on the Planet Ryugu		あー今　すべてのことがわかった。 多くの年月がたってしまったんだ、 僕が光のスピードで旅行しているうちに。。。 竜宮惑星の人たちが僕によくしてくれたのは 僕が重要な標本だったからなんだ。。。
Narrator	Taro thinks it is his duty to teach science to the villagers. He is now an old man and does not have much time to live, but he tries hard. Thanks to him, we know a lot about science and we can live better lives.		太郎は村人達に科学を教えることを自分の義務だと思います。 彼は今や老人で、生きれる時間があまりありません。 しかし彼は一生懸命　やります。 彼のおかげで、　私達は多くの科学を知り、 前よりずっと豊かな生活ができるのです。
